The International Biennial of Contemporary Art. ULA-2010, is performed to commemorate the 200 anniversary of the founding of the Royal University of San Buenaventura, which gave birth to the Universidad de Los Andes. It is an event to encourage, promote dialogue and disseminate and confrontation of the Visual Arts, which are the territories of contemporary universities, the country and the world.
The International Biennial of Contemporary Art, ULA-2010, calls for dialogue between radically dematerialized visual languages \u200b\u200bthat dominate the territories of the last two decades and who, appropriating the virtual concepts of new technologies, returning to the formats and material elements in the concept of "Marco". This is not the way to the virtual painting but later return to "Framework", in the physical domain, but infiltrated by electronic language "Display." The format of the "Screen" gives a possible material condition, and re-entry, deconstructions, the plastic, legitimizing the real from the virtual legitimization.
Similarly, it is suggested the coexistence intangible "Screen" using the various languages \u200b\u200bof digital art (video art, net. Art-net-art audio-visual art, digital architectural 3D models, video game art, holograms, digital photography, film-atom, virtual environments) with the visual materiality of the "Framework", in all its mergers (paintings, prints, photography, silkscreen, assemblage, mixed media, etc..), demonstrating the alive and dominant languages \u200b\u200bof our time.
propose a specific format, between 17 "and 21" for the digital art (benchmark measures which are fitted to the screens, monitors and projectors available to the committee of the Biennial), and between 21 and 34 "material for art (this means that only two-dimensional works will be received in the form of art material, with the top 86 cm size. x 86 cm.), to emphasize the limited space we inhabit and electronic displays to de-position simultaneously to mount them in dialogue, in both languages, opening collisions and approaches that are sense make clear the real-fiction. This will include without limitation, all the proposals and concepts, the "in-situ [Screen and Framework].
Art. 1
The Ist International Biennial of Contemporary Art "Screen and Framework" will be held at the premises of the university of art and art spaces right in the city of Merida, Venezuela. The organization, reception, recording, storage, assembly and dissemination will be the responsibility of the Organising Committee DIGECEX and her designee, including representatives of key agencies related visual arts at the university of: Department of Art History, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Architecture and Design, Aesthetic Research Center and the Galleria La Otra Banda.
Article 2 Participation
Venezuelan and foreign artists to create works individually or collectively between August 2008 and August 2010, unprecedented nature. The works will be presented how they are delivered to collection centers. The Biennial is not responsible for packing and secure them.
Article 3
The Ist International Biennial of Contemporary Art "The Screen and Framework "will have two modes of participation: Digital Art and Art material. Each artist can participate with one work by each mode (able to participate in both or only one of them.)
Digital Arts 1, mode: This mode involved projects in the various languages \u200b\u200bof digital art (no material): Video-Art, Net Art (Red Art) Art audio-visual, 3D Architectural Models Digital (Renders ), Video game art, holograms, digital photography, film-Atom, virtual environments. The works will be projected in a format of 17 "and 21".
2 º Art Material Mode: In this mode all proposals involving artistic expression, using materials in a frame: Painting, Drawing, Graphic Arts, Photography physics, and any mixed media assemblages. This should be contained in a "frame" 21 "to 34".
Article 4
A) The presentation of the works used in the form of digital art and proper display of the selected artist is responsible for which is required to use any PC-compatible programs . Artists must enter a draft work and digital media itself, preferably on CD or DVD, for the evaluation of the Selection Jury. Once accepted, the artists, the Organizing Committee will establish the length and location of works. Local artists, national and international must enter detailed specification of the installation work. The Organizing Committee will provide the equipment for proper installation, subject to available logistics.
B) The execution of the works used in the form of art material is the responsibility of the selected artist. Should be shown in physical, and the specifications of the measures considered in the bases of the Ist International Biennial Contemporary Art "Screen and Framework." Once accepted by the selection jury will be installed in accordance with the criteria of curating and mounting it. The works must be properly "framed" and the respective instructions for assembly, in the case so require.

The reception of the works will be held on July 15, 2010 to October 15, 2010 at the following locations University (Directions of Culture).

• Eastern University: Department of Culture, Cumana. Edo. Sucre.
Article 7
The Ist International Biennial of Contemporary Art "Screen and Framework" will be a jury of admission and an examining board.
The admission jury will composed of two (2) contemporary art specialists critical of the ULA, appointed by the Organizing Committee, and three (3) representatives of recognized national rating, designated by the Commission.
The examining board shall consist of three (3) jurors, other than the selection of national and international prestige.
Article 8
This Biennale will feature international and national guest artists. The works of international and national guest artists will also be selected by the jury. If you do not want the guest artists for the awards are not subject selection by the jury. This should be expressly stated in writing by such artists.
Art.9
The Ist International Biennial of Contemporary Art and Frame Screen "award the following prizes: Grand Prix
consisting Diploma of Honor and a cash prize for the best work 20,000 Bsf the Biennale.
offer Digital Art Award, consisting of Diploma of Honor and travel and accommodations for three nights in Los Roques.
Material Art Award offer consisting Diploma of Honor and travel and accommodations for three nights at Canaima.
two honorable mentions will be awarded by mode without a prize.
Art. 10
Should be reproducible winning works, the artist recorded ten (10) copies of the winning work, in addition to the exposure.
All winning works will become part of the collection of works from the Gallery La Otra Banda, the DIGECEX, ULA.
Art. 11
Works not selected must be withdrawn at the respective headquarters between fifteen (15) and thirty (30) days following the publication of the official list. After that time, the Organizing Committee may dispose of them. The participants work not awarded must be picked up at the respective headquarters, from the fifteen (15) business days after the closing. After this period, the Organising Committee may dispose of them.
Article 12
Not foreseen in these rules shall be resolved by the Organizing Committee.
