Introduction The purpose of this policy is:
Reinforce the importance of volunteerism in the International Red Cross Crescent Societies;

Establish responsibilities of National Societies of Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteers to;

Definition
Volunteering in the Movement of the Red Cross and Red Crescent is an activity that:
is based on the free will of the person providing voluntary services, not the desire for material or pecuniary benefit, or social pressures, economic and foreign policies;
It aims to help vulnerable people and their communities, in accordance with the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent;
It is organized by recognized representatives of National Societies of the Red Cross or Crescent. A volunteer with the Red Cross or Red Crescent is a person who carries out voluntary work for a National Society of the Red Cross or Red Crescent regularidad.Un occasionally or member of the Red Cross or Crescent is a person who has formally accepted the conditions of membership which state statutes or regulations of the National Society and usually has the right to elect representatives in the guidelines and submit its candidacy for volunteers mismos.Los Red Cross or Red Crescent may or not members of the National Society. Volunteering is a way for an individual or group to put into practice one of the Fundamental Principles of the Movement namely the service voluntario.Las Societies of Red Cross and Red Crescent Federation members and the Secretariat of the Federation:
is committed to promoting volunteerism as a significant and positive contribution to improving life of vulnerable people and strengthening communities and civil society;
recognize and appreciate the concept of volunteerism as a means to create a network of people willing to work for a National Society in an emergency and support them;
Value all volunteers primarily for their individual contributions, enthusiasm and commitment and the experience and skills they can provide;
know and value informal volunteering in communities outside the formal programs and activities organized by National Societies.
Declaration
National Societies of Red Cross and Red Crescent:
Establish a code of conduct approved by the national governing body, which stipulate the rights and responsibilities of the National Society and its volunteers;
recruit volunteers for specific tasks and functions or explicitly described;
recruit volunteers on the basis of their commitment and potential, will try
actively recruiting volunteers, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religious beliefs, disability or age;
Ensure you have adequate participation of men and women in volunteer programs of National Societies to enable the provision of services and activities are conducted efficiently and according to the criterion of equality of opportunity;
impart adequate training to enable volunteers to meet their responsibilities to the movement and carry out specific tasks or functions for which they were built, and any emergency response activity is asked to execute;
supply equipment adequate to the task or function assigned to the volunteers;
reward and recognize the work of volunteers whenever possible and appropriate, and provide sufficient opportunities for personal development;

be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred by volunteers during the performance of approved volunteer work;

Respond to the needs of beneficiaries and strengthen their capacity to help themselves and have an active volunteer.
All volunteers are entitled to:
choose to become members of the National Society as stipulated in the statutes;
receive adequate training and have opportunities to undertake personal development tasks or functions assigned to them;
Having the right equipment to enable them to undertake the tasks or functions entrusted to them;
accept or refuse any task or function in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Fundamentals of Voluntary Service.
